Louisiana Bonus Tax Calculator 2026

Louisiana moved to a flat 3% income tax in 2025; because the Department's withholding-table page still links only older rules, this page estimates the bonus's state tax at 3% and labels it an estimate.

What changed in 2025

Louisiana replaced its graduated income tax with a single 3% rate for tax years beginning in 2025. The Department of Revenue's individual income tax page shows the change across every bracket — 1.85%, 3.5% and 4.25% for 2022–2024, and 3% for 2025 and after.

Why the state line is an estimate

LDR's "Louisiana Withholding Tax Tables" page, last updated November 7, 2024, still links only a 2018 emergency rule, and the most recent withholding-table rule we located in the Louisiana Register dates from August 2022 — both written for the old graduated rates. We could not verify which table employers are directed to use for 2026 or whether Louisiana sets a separate rate for bonuses. Rather than present an unverifiable payroll figure, the calculator estimates the Louisiana tax the bonus adds at the 3% rate: $150.00 on $5,000, $300.00 on $10,000. That is an estimate of tax, not a withholding rule, and it is labeled that way.

If your pay stub shows a different Louisiana amount, enter your employer's rate as a percentage. At 4.25%, for instance, the line becomes $212.50.
