A flat 4.7% option

The 2026 Missouri Withholding Tax Formula covers supplemental and overtime pay in its own box. Paid with normal wages, the total goes through the formula as one regular payment. Paid separately, the employer may either "withhold a flat percentage rate of 4.7 percent of the supplemental wages" or add the bonus to the period's regular wages, run the formula, and withhold the difference. A $5,000 bonus at 4.7% carries $235.00.

Why the two methods usually match

Missouri's 2026 formula subtracts a standard deduction ($16,100 single or married with a working spouse, $32,200 when the spouse does not work, $24,150 head of household) and then applies brackets from 0% to 4.7%, with the 4.7% bracket starting above $9,436 of annual taxable income. Anyone whose regular pay already exceeds that point has a top Missouri withholding rate of 4.7%, so aggregation and the flat option produce nearly the same Missouri amount.

Kansas City and St. Louis

Kansas City and the City of St. Louis levy their own earnings taxes, withheld separately from Missouri tax; enter the city rate to include it — at 1%, the local line on this bonus is $50.00.
