Utah Bonus Tax Calculator 2026
Utah has no flat bonus rate; under the June 2026 schedules the bonus adds 4.45% — or 5.75% if your pay sits in the range where Utah's base allowance phases out.

New schedules from June 1, 2026
Publication 14, the Utah State Tax Commission's Withholding Tax Guide (Rev. 4/26), carries tables "effective for pay periods beginning on or after June 1, 2026." Its formula multiplies taxable wages by 4.45% and subtracts a base allowance — $485 a year for single filers, $970 for married — that shrinks by 1.3% of wages above $9,348 ($18,696 married). Utah has no supplemental rate, so the calculator adds the bonus to the regular paycheck and withholds the difference.
Why some bonuses cost 5.75%
For most salaried employees the allowance has already disappeared, and the bonus adds 4.45% of itself: $222.50 on $5,000. Inside the phase-out range the bonus also shrinks the allowance, adding another 1.3%: on a $40,000 salary the same bonus carries $225.83. A married employee with the standard example's pay sees $230.16.
Bonuses paid before June 2026
The schedules in Rev. 4/26 apply only from June 1, 2026. For a bonus paid earlier in the year, the calculator does not apply them backward; enter the rate your employer used. A bonus dated May 20, 2026 shows $0.00 until you do.
